I was nine years old when I was introduced to this sport by my Dad's best friend and this has been the most important part of my growing up for the last 6 years. Volleyball is more than just a sport for me; it’s a true passion that fuels my spirit and energizes my life. The feeling of diving for a save, executing a perfect kill, or blocking an opponent’s attack is unmatched. Each practice pushes me to improve my skills, build my strength, and refine my techniques.
One of the best parts about volleyball is the relationships and friendships I’ve formed over the years. The bond I share with my teammates extends beyond the court, creating a supportive and fun environment. Whether we’re celebrating a win or learning from a loss, we stick together, and that sense of unity is incredibly rewarding.
What drives me to strive harder on the court. Being an Indian girl, there is a stereotype that she is good in math or computer. When I go for national tournaments, it would be very rare to see another Indian girl among the sea of players. I want to prove that I can be as good or better than anyone else in the sport. And I want to encourage my younger generation the importance of sports and teamwork.
I started playing piano when I was eight and have the practicing every day since then. Piano has also taught me valuable lessons in discipline, patience, and perseverance. Learning to play a complex piece requires time and dedication, and these skills have translated into other areas of my life as well. Performing for others is another aspect of my passion. Playing at church, events, and even just for family and friends brings me immense joy. Seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing that my music has touched them in some way makes all the hard work and practice worthwhile.
I also played the clarinet and the flute for my middle school band for 3 years. I had to give up these instruments when high school life became very demanding. But I practice them whenever I can. Listening to music and occasionally singing is also something I really enjoy. I am also a lead participant in the church choir.
I must have started dancing on stage since I was a toddler. I love performing hip hop or Bollywood dance styles and I have also studied Indian classical dance for many years. Dance is not just a hobby; it’s a passion for me.
I have always enjoyed performing in front of people, be it a school or a church play or giving a sermon. I feel confident that with the right preparation, I can deliver well on stage in front of large audiences.
Traveling is my ultimate adventure, and I am blessed that my parents also share the same passion for travel. The thrill of exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and meeting new people is what excites me the most. I have been blessed to travel to close to 15 countries and to more than 20 states within US. I truly believe that traveling helps me grow as a person. It broadens my perspective, teaches me to appreciate the beauty of diversity, and makes me more adaptable and open-minded.
A big part of my travel passion is exploring local cuisine. Tasting new foods and flavors is an adventure in itself. These culinary experiences are not only delicious but also provide a deeper connection to the places I visit.
